5. Preveli beach ( South Crete) – one of the most picturesque spots in Crete, beach surrounded by palm trees and a river, offers a stunning combination of sandy shores, clear waters and the surrounding cliffs and greenery. Visitors can swim both in the river and the sea.
Motorhome
Access: the main
parking area is located above the beach, from there, it’s about 15–20-minute
hike down to reach it. Alternatively, you can park at Drimiskiano Ammoudi
Beach, on the east of Preveli Beach and walk along the coast. It's a ten-minute
(quite easy) walk from there. To visit unique Preveli beach by camper you should navigate to the
area near the beach.
During the summer, boats run from Plakias and
Agia Galini to Preveli beach.This is a scenic and easy way to reach the beach
without hikiking.
There are
organized campsites in nearby areas like Plakias where you can park overnight.
6. Falassarna
beach ( West Crete)- a long sandy beach with spectacular sunsets.
The beach is famous for turquoise waters and golden sand. You can enjoy
swimming, snorkeling, windsurfing or just relaxing. There are also some ancient
ruins nearby worth exploring.
Motorhome
Access: there is a large parking area near the beach
where motorhomes are welcome. However, it can get crowded during high season
,so arrive early to secure a good spot.
Some roads
leading to Falassarna are narrow or winding, so drive cautiously, especially if
your motorhome is large.
While wild
camping is technically prohibited in Greece, overnight parking is sometimes
tolerated in less busy areas. Check for
signs or ask locals for guidance.
Alternatively,
there are nearby campgrounds or motorhome-friendly spots where you can park for
a small fee.
7. Triopetra
Beach (South Crete) - famous for its three rock formations and peaceful
surroundings, stunnig spot for relaxation or exploration. Like much of southern
Crete, it can be windy, especially during the summer months. In the off-season
(spring and fall) the winds are typically calmer, making it a great time for a
visit.
Camper Access: easy access and parking available
nearby, motorhomes are generally welcome. The space is less crowded compared to
northern beaches. The roads leading to Triopetra are mostly paved and in good
condition, but some parts can be narrow and winding. The beach is divided into
two parts: the Big Triopetra and the Small Triopetra, both are accessible by
road.
8. Kato
Zakros Beach (East Crete) - a remote beautiful and tranquil beach with
archeological ruins nearby- the Minoan archaeological site, one of the four
major Minoan palaces on Crete. Its known
for its pristine beauty and atmosphere.
It is a hidden gem that offer visitors a peaceful and uncrowded beach
experience away from the hustle of more popular tourist destinations. Kato
Zakros is located near the iconic Zakros Gorge, popular hiking destination in
Crete.
Motorhome
access: the drive
to Kato Zakros is incredibly scenic, passing through picturesque landscapes, olive
groves and charming villages along the way. You can park your motorhome near
the beach or in a secluded spot to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and beautiful
sunsets.
